A few years ago, for Father’s Day, Jay Patel and I sat down together for NHS Blood and Transplant.
Two dads. Both of us had lost a young child. Jay’s son Aari became an organ donor and helped save other children. Margot’s story touched blood, stem cells and, for us as a family, the difficult question of organ and tissue donation too.
We chatted with one another, in a sense – about grief, about what donation meant in our families and about why the conversation with the people you love matters before a crisis arrives.
