I’m only now finding time to catch my breath following a frenetic couple of weeks, which has seen some wonderfully positive awareness & recruitment activity, to mark our Stem Cell and Bone Marrow Registration Day earlier this month.
This year, we are seeking to refocus efforts and are calling upon 1.1 million new potential stem cell donors to join the registers. Anthony Nolan was the first bone marrow registry – not just in the UK, but in the world – and it has taken over 40 years to see the registry get to where it is today. Our wish is to see the size and potency of the combined UK registers DOUBLE & we are hopeful & optimistic that this will be achieved and much sooner than 2056 !
Whilst it’s far too early to properly understand & quantify the positive social impact that Team Margot is making, early indications & feedback from the various UK registers point to a spike in the number of new potential bone marrow donors joining the registers during the course of the last week.
Well done to EVERYONE involved ! and THANK YOU. And when we say everyone, we don’t just mean the fantastic organisers and our wonderful army of Team Margot volunteers, but also to each and every one of you who has followed, liked or shared our posts & gone on to tell someone about the work Team Margot is doing, in your own time and in your own way.
Because YOU might be the only one who can save a life – either directly or indirectly, simply by virtue of shining light upon an otherwise dark area of knowledge and understanding.

Special thank you’s to Anthony Nolan, DKMS UK, NHS Blood and Transplant and the Welsh Bone Marrow Donor Registry for all your support, inputs and ongoing co-operation – without you and the great work you do, nothing would happen. We feel very proud to be working with you and alongside other organisations & families like WMDA, The Danish Bone Marrow Registry, The Karaiskakio Foundation in Cyprus, Be The Match, Gift Of Life & DKMS US, The Carribean Bone Marrow Registry, ACLT, DKMS Poland and Match4Lara, amongst others.
