Could you be someone’s Golden Ticket?

By

imageimageI saw these photographs posted earlier today from one of our supporters who recently went to give blood – thank you for sharing Maria !

The photographs show both sides of one of 35,000 Golden Tickets (printed hard copy) that have been circulated to BAME (Black Asian and Minority Ethnic) and mixed race blood donors who aren’t yet on the British Bone Marrow Register (BBMR) – and it’s something we haven’t yet written about !

There are thousands of email versions in circulation too, in what is a very targeted joint campaign with the NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) to recruit more potential BAME and mixed race stem cell / bone marrow donors.

And this poster of the Golden Ticket was in one of the donor centres where Margot's uncle Ivor recently went to give blood. These feature in all 25 donor centres nationally.

The Golden Ticket may already seem familiar - we used a version of it at our Parliamentary Reception in May - seen here on show with representatives from all the UK registers and the UK registry: Together, saving lives

To find out more about our new, year long Golden Ticket campaign with the NHSBT, please see: http://www.nhsbt.nhs.uk/bonemarrow/goldenticket/

We very much hope this will help make a significant difference to the number of BAME and mixed race donors on the BBMR – initial indications are extremely positive !

If you would like Golden Tickets to give to people in your community as a means of encouraging them to give blood and join the BBMR, please email us with your postal address at: info@teammargot.com and we will send some to you.

Thank you.
