I have been working in the hospitality industry for over 20 years, but last night was the first time I had been invited to the House of Commons to attend the All Party Parliamentary Beer Group Christmas event.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, the Beer Group is by far the most popular of the All Party Parliamentary Groups and it’s chair, Andrew Griffiths MP very kindly invited me to fill the goodie bags with Team Margot postcards and wristbands, as well as to have a ‘stand up’ in the venue to help increase awareness, as part of Team Margot Foundation’s Parliamentary efforts.
It’s all in celebration of beer and pubs, which do a fabulous job of bringing people together and raising an enormous amount of money for charity and good causes each year.
JustGiving & PubAid are together organising the Worlds Biggest Pub Quiz on Sunday 7 February 2016 – click here to join – for the fun of it and also in support of charities and good causes.
What I hadn’t expected was to be invited to speak & address the 200-something people in attendance, only to have Andrew subsequently ram the message home again after I was done.
Brilliant.
It was a fabulous opportunity to raise awareness and garner Parliamentary support, which is all part of the ongoing plan.
Thanks so much to everyone who offered to support – rest assured, I WILL get around to replying to you shortly !
And in the meantime, thank you again Andrew and also thanks to Paul Hegarty for helping to make it all happen.
