Margot was discharged from Great Ormond Street Hospital early this afternoon; it’s great to have her back home.
Generally speaking, Margot is ‘OK’ however the repeat infection she suffered and the operations she has had to endure appear to have taken their toll and she is tired and a little more irritable than usual today. Her haemaglobin levels will need topping up later this week and so for the time being Margot looks pale and slightly more fragile than before, having lost some weight over the last week or so.
At a review meeting yesterday, it was made clear by her consultant that Margot’s condition is still very much regarded as incurable and that there isn’t any further recommended treatment, other than ‘symptom care’.
Whilst we are told it is highly improbable, the hope is of course that Margot’s donor cells will confound all expectations and continue to fight this blood cancer.
We continue to take each day as it comes and wish for more good days than bad.
Thank you for all your support and well wishes.
